Yesterday I went to a performance of Handel’s Messiah given by a local singing group (Waverley Singers) and I enjoyed it greatly. Handel’s Messiah is one of those pieces where everyone knows the ‘Messiah‘ and ‘Unto Us A Child Is Born‘ but there is nearly two and a half hours more music. I will admit, I did feel slightly sorry for hte soprano soloist who had a very long wait in both Acts before she got to do any singing.
Alas I’m unable to show you anything from that concert so instead I shall share this version of Messiah that I find just so…. amazing!!
Well, I have returned from sunnier and considerably warmer climes. Argentina is a long way to go but they certainly cook fine steaks and at this time of year the weather is a lot nicer than it is here. Considerably nicer!!
And just incase you’re wondering why Argentina… well, you remember why I was there last time…?? Well, I was doing that again… yes, I’ll let you know when you can see it.
Normally in February I tend towards grumpiness… but this year I have decided to do it differently. Rather than being at home with nothing to do I’m at (or travelling to or leaving… depending on when you’re reading this) Heathrow Terminal 3 waiting for my plane to foreign climes (forecast about 30C) and shan’t be arriving back home until Thursday.
What’s that you say, away for Valentine’s Day?? Yes!!
I wrote somewhere recently that I have reached the age where whilst the days themselves drag the weeks fly by. An example of this is not only the fact it’s Feburary (how’s that happen??) but it’s 2011 (now how did THAT happen?!?!?!)…
I know that the saying goes, “Times flies when you’re having fun,” but I’m fairly certain that I should be having a lot more fun than I’m actually having… I could be wrong of course, but I certainly like to think I should be having more fun!!
